What is the best type of diet food wise? Thank you.
Don’t waste your money buying diet foods other than sugar-free carbonated beverages IF you drink them or have diabetes. Diet foods are not as satisfying as regular foods and you will eat more of them anyway.
Eating a variety of lean meats, whole grains, fat-free or low-fat dairy, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats (avocado, tree nuts, olive or peanut oils) in smaller quantities at 3 meals a day is the best plan for losing weight. Eat every 4 to 6 hours so that you are not starving hungry when you come home and eat whatever is available. Plan what you are going to eat each day and stick to the plan.
Second: Set up your food environment so that you succeed. Go through your kitchen cabinets and get rid of any snack or dessert foods that are high in fat or sugar. It is easier to stick to a healthy weight loss plan if you don’t buy sweets or salty snacks or cook them. Don’t have foods you may binge on staring you in the face.
Lastly, exercise 60 minutes 5 days a week enough to break a sweat. Choose exercises where you can still carry on a conversation and are not breathless so that you are burning body fat, not your blood sugar. Include weight lifting exercises to help maintain your muscles while you lose weight.
